Also participating in the Glengarriff Park Run recently was Elmarie Lynch.  Glengarriff Park Run is held weekly in the Nature Reserve just outside of Glengarriff village on the Kenmare road.  It is a free weekly 5km  run /  walk held (off road) at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday morning, organised by volunteers.  Anyone can take part, you just need to register online first with Park Run Ireland.  More information on the Glengarriff Park Run can be found here

Following on from his recent victory in the 0.45 category 1500m at the National Track & Field Championships, Michael Harrington went on to compete in the World Masters Track & Field championships which were held in Malaga last weekend. 

Michael took part in the 0.45 1500m distance.    He qualified comfortably out of the first heat on Saturday for the final, achieving a new personal best time of  4.18.31.   The final took place on Sunday morning, where he finished in  a superb 10th position overall.

Cross Country competition commences this weekend with the West Cork Track & Field championships which will be held on Sunday morning near Bandon.  First race of the day is at 11:30 a.m.   Best of luck to all of our juvenile athletes taking part.   Provisional fixtures calendar for County cross country championships here.    UPDATE - (21ST OF SEPTEMBER) - WEST CORK CROSS COUNTRY POSTPONED DUE TO BAD WEATHER FORECAST UNTIL SUNDAY 30TH OF SEPTEMBER AT 11:30 a.m.
