MUNSTER JUVENILE TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019

There has been no rest for our juvenile athletes the past two weekends.

The first leg of the Munster Track & Field championships were held in Templemore in Co Tipperary on the 8th of June. Fionn Harrington was first for the Club on the track competing in the Under 15 boys 800m. The race was evenly paced throughout until the last 300m when there was a breakaway group of four battling to take the top 3 medals. Fionn had a very fast finish and clinched the bronze medal on the line, securing his position on the start line for the National Finals in July. Ellen Collins followed in the girls u. 16 800m which went out at a very fast pace, and she had a good solid run. Aoibheann Lawton moved down in distance to the 800m from her preferred distance of 3000m, and she ran strongly throughout finishing in 4th also qualifying for the All Ireland finals. Caoimhe Cotter was the last of our athletes competing taking part in the u. 17 2000m S/C, which race was combined with mixed ages. Caoimhe had a great run and collected her first gold Munster Track & Field medal which also qualifies her for the All Ireland final.
