British & Irish Masters Home Countries International XC

The British and Irish Masters Home Countries International Cross Country event was held yesterday in Gransha Park in Derry, where teams from Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales compete in their age categories. It was a worthwhile journey from West Cork to Derry for Michael Harrington who donned the green singlet representing Ireland in the O.45 category running a distance of 8km on an undulating course. The ground was cut up by the time this race was ran, as it was the third race of the day. The O.45 race was held in conjunction with the O.35 and O.40 categories. England claimed the gold medals and were overall team winners with 92 points, followed by Ireland taking the silver team medals in 140 points, with Scotland taking the bronze with 247 points. Congratulations to Michael who finished as 4th Irish runner on the over 45 Irish team and who was also a scorer on the team which helped Ireland secure the silver medals.
