Munster Even Age Cross Country Report 21.10.2019

*** ALL IRELAND QUALIFIERS  ***

Well done to our athletes who competed in the Munster even ages cross country yesterday which was held around Limerick Racecourse.  Ground conditions were very poor with heavy mud in parts, which made for extremely tough races for the athletes.  The course comprised 1km loops.   Medals were awarded to the top 12 finishers as well as County team medals.  Top 12 placing secured automatic qualification for the All Ireland championships.

Beibhinn Horstmanhoff had a fantastic race running a year out of age in the girls u. 14 3000m, narrowly missing out on a qualifying spot on the highly competitive Cork team for the All Ireland final.  This race will benefit Beibhinn for her own age Munster championships in a few weeks time.
Ellen Collins & Caoimhe Horstmanhoff ran well competing in the girls u. 16 4,000m followed by  Sean Lawton and Fionn Harrington who were next to run in the boys u. 16 4000m, both having really good strong races.   Sean finished in 6th place overall with Fionn in 12th place, both qualifying for the Munster team for the All Ireland finals.   Fionn & Sean won both individual and silver medals on the Cork team. This challenging race will stand  to them when they run their own age Munster cross country championships in November.

Caoimhe Cotter and Aoibheann Lawton had another good race in the girls u. 18 4000m,  with Aoibheann finishing in 10th position overall, also qualifying for the All Ireland finals in November.   Aoibheann also won an individual gold medal on the Cork team.
